CSD Begins Immediate Expansion Efforts for Project Endeavor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Renovations begin on CSD campus, new contact center to be hub for customer
\nsupport, help desk and information regarding broadband.<\/p>\n

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Aug. 13, 2010) \u2014 CSD, one of the nation’s largest relay
\nand human service organizations for deaf and hard of hearing people, began
\nrenovations and preparations to open a new contact center on their current
\ncampus located along 10th Street in Sioux Falls, S.D., later this year. The
\ncontact center is part of a two-year project that calls for a nationwide
\nawareness campaign and marketing initiative that combines subsidized
\nbroadband, technology training, and specialized equipment \u2014 among other
\nthings \u2014 for a targeted populace of 200,000 deaf and hard of hearing people.<\/p>\n

The effort is the result of a recent multi-million dollar grant from the
\nNational Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), under the
\nUS Department of Commerce, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment
\nAct and sustainable broadband initiatives (otherwise known as BTOP). Called
\n\u201cProject Endeavor,\u201d CSD intends to use this grant to create 60+ jobs in the
\nlocal market, several immediately available. Over the past two weeks, CSD
\nhas feverishly been developing a series of job positions as well as the
\noverall infrastructure for the project. Some of the vacancies that are now
\navailable include:<\/p>\n

Construction on the expansion project, at the 80-year-old Buckmaster
\nBuilding on the CSD campus, is expected to be completed by October, with the
\nlaunch of the new contact center slated for December 2010. Once the
\nexpansion is complete, CSD will have a total combined workforce of more than
\n500 in the Sioux Falls area, including those in an existing customer support
\ncontact center, a telecommunications relay center, a video relay and
\ninterpreting center, a human service center, and the organization\u2019s
\nadministrative headquarters.<\/p>\n

CSD currently has 32 other locations throughout the U.S. and by the end of
\nthis calendar year, there will be an estimated combined workforce of
\napproximately 2000 people nationwide. The size, scope and unique
\ncharacteristics of the organization make CSD one of the only non-profits of
\nits kind anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n

“Our 35-year-old organization is growing, as evidenced by the flurry of new
\njobs, expansion and new construction. These are all very positive signs that
\nindicate an obvious need for more space and more staff to better serve our
\nconsumers. Given the current state of our nation\u2019s economy and unemployment
\nrate, we couldn\u2019t be more pleased with the current situation here at CSD,”
\nsaid Ben Soukup, CSD president and chief executive officer. “The expansion
\nof our contact center network and business division will enable us to
\ninitiate broader marketing and educational initiatives and at the same time,
\nrespond more efficiently to our customers’ needs from a modern,
\nstate-of-the-art contact center.”<\/p>\n

The new contact center will feature a modern and robust platform that
\nenables call support via voice, text, IP, Web-chat, and video.<\/p>\n
