Alzheimer’s: Where Do We Go From Here? – Houston<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dear Friends,<\/p>\n

I am Arthur Craig, Pastor of Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church in Houston. At
\nWoodhaven we have two of our members, Lisa and Norm Smith, who have spent
\nthe past six years helping look after a family member with Alzheimer’s.
\nMany of you may have attended Lisa’s presentation at the Southern Baptist
\nConference for the Deaf in 2008 titled “Alzheimer’s: Where Do We Go From
\nHere?”<\/p>\n

When Lisa’s aunt was diagnosed in 2004 with Alzheimer’s, their family was
\ncaught off guard. They did not know what to do or where to turn.<\/p>\n

Since then they have spent a considerable amount of time, effort, and money
\nlearning about dementia care. The legal, financial, medical and personal
\naspects of this are complex and finding help is often frustrating. To help
\nothers who might be facing the same dilemmas they have put together a series
\nof online presentations. The first one is FREE and will last about 70
\nminutes on August 24, 2010 at 8 pm central time.<\/p>\n

This first presentation is focused on the hearing. The intent is to record
\nthe class and have one of our Woodhaven folks do a video in ASL for the deaf
\nto watch later.<\/p>\n

This information is good and should be passed on to anyone you know who
\nmight be facing dementia. I’ll let you know when the ASL version is
\ncompleted.<\/p>\n
