Vote for Deaf Toddlers and Help the Finalist, Clerc\u2019s Children To Win the
\n50K grant by Pepsi Refresh Project Today and Every Day in August 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

Santa Monica, CA August 18, 2010 – Clerc\u2019s Children Inc. was accepted into
\nPepsi\u2019s Refresh Project 50K category, which allows people across America to
\nvote for top ten refreshing idea in enhancing America to receive the grant.
\nOut of thousand submissions, Clerc\u2019s Children project was accepted for
\nAugust 2010 entry. At the press time, Clerc\u2019s Children shot up from among
\nthe bottom 1,000 th place to 37 th place, a considerable feat, attesting to
\nthe power of people\u2019s votes. Clerc\u2019s Children hopes to inspire the
\ncommunity members to become a dedicated voters and vote daily in August to
\nelevate Clerc\u2019s Children to top ten and win the 50K grant!<\/p>\n

By voting for Clerc\u2019s Children\u2019s idea, the voter is enhancing the lives of
\nfamilies with deaf toddlers. 90 % of deaf toddlers are entering
\nKindergarten either with severe delay in language or has little or no
\nlanguage skills. When Clerc\u2019s Children wins the grant, the current beta
\nwebsite, designed to empower parents with tools and provides bilingual
\neducational curriculum for deaf toddlers at home, will be ready for launch
\nby January 2011.<\/p>\n

While Clerc\u2019s Children is designed for parents of Deaf toddlers, it is also
\nbeneficial to all toddlers because the hand coordination naturally develops
\namong infants\/toddlers before the vocal cord does. So America Sign Language
\n(ASL) meets the child\u2019s cognitive development and language acquisition needs
\nat early age before speaking could. This is why signing among hearing
\ninfants is popular however signing is not encouraged or is lightly mentioned
\nto the parents whose infant had just failed newborn hearing screen because
\nof myth and misinformation such as Sign Language interferes with speaking
\nskills among deaf children however research shows differently.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst there has never been an real evidence that learning to sign
\ninterferes with Deaf Children\u2019s learning to speak. In fact, early sign
\nlanguage consistently has been shown to have beneficial effects on learning
\nspoken language.\u201d<\/p>\n
