Sign Language Interpreter \u2013 R New Student Disability Resources & Services<\/p>\n

Salary $2,544.17 – $3,182.58\/MO – 9 month appointment<\/p>\n

Job Description Perform sign language interpretation for hearing-impaired
\nstudents\/ prospective students including lectures or other classroom
\ninstruction, meeting, registration, testing, tutoring, counseling, etc. May
\nassists in locating, evaluating and scheduling part-time interpreters, etc.
\nMay maintain related department records.<\/p>\n

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.<\/p>\n

Skill and Special Requirements:Requires a level 1 interpreter Certification
\nissued by the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services
\n(DARS) Board for Evaluation of Interpreters, certification by National
\nRegistry of Interpreters for the Deal (NRID), or QAST certification awarded
\nby another state for interpreting or Translating Skill. Follow the
\nInterpreting Code of Ethics as established by the Texas Department of
\nAssistive and Rehabilitative Services. Excellent oral and written
\ncommunication skills to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals
\nfrom diverse backgrounds. Evidence of certification will be required.<\/p>\n

This is a 40 hour per week\/9 month position (Fall\/Spring Semesters). May
\nspend approximately 30- hours per week interpreting. Applicant must be
\nflexible and able to work around varying student schedules. Position may
\nrequire traveling to various satellite campuses for evening assignments.<\/p>\n

Position will start January 2011<\/p>\n
