Interpreter Workshop: Reading Body Language – Austin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hello all,<\/p>\n

I’ll be giving a brand new workshop on Nov 6th at Austin Community College.
\nRead below if you want to come.<\/p>\n

Language, as we know it, is very much an integral part of humanity. We need
\nit to communicate our ideas, thoughts, and feelings with others. Language
\nis also used in a way where it allows us to bond with people and come
\ntogether like a community. Non-verbal communication plays a major role in
\nour daily activities. This workshop will focus on reading body language
\nwhen someone is signing in ASL. We will be studying many different
\nperspectives: proximity, Body language, kinesics, and nonverbal gestures.
\nThis workshop will be an eye opener even for the most experienced
\ninterpreter.<\/p>\n

Objective:<\/p>\n

* We will discuss how space and interaction that occurs within the given
\nspace with other individuals.
\n* Understanding the movements of the body and the meaning that each movement
\nrepresents in communication.
\n* Gestures that do not give a specific meaning but rather give connotations
\nof the statement that is being said, verbally or non verbally.
\n* Body Language and how they are applied to ASL.
\n* How to identify body language from sign language.<\/p>\n
