FANS AWAIT TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF\u2019S HOMECOMING CELEBRATION<\/p>\n

STUDENTS PUMPED FOR ANNUAL PEP RALLY TODAY!<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 October 8, 2010 Homecoming at the Texas School for the Deaf
\n(TSD) is still the most cherished tradition celebrated at the 154 year-old
\nschool, home of the TSD Rangers.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s pep rally at 1:00 pm caps off Spirit Week at TSD – when the high
\nschool class who has demonstrated the most spirit throughout the week takes
\nownership of the coveted Spirit Award for the 2010-11 school year \u2013 and
\nofficially kicks-off TSD\u2019s pre-game festivities that will bring an estimated
\n3,000 fans to the south Austin campus.<\/p>\n

Texas School for the Deaf – located at 1102 South Congress Avenue – hosts
\nrival, Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD) on the gridiron, Saturday, October
\n9 at 5:30 pm, where TSD\u2019s 2010 Homecoming court will be crowned during
\nhalftime.<\/p>\n

Rooted in long-standing tradition, each year students, families, friends,
\nalumni – as well as the opposing rivals and fans – converge on TSD\u2019s campus
\nmall to celebrate together at the Homecoming Festival prior to the game.
\nDuring the festival, fans will enjoy almost 70 booths offering refreshments,
\ncool merchandise, student fundraisers, games and more. The popular car smash
\nis back \u2013 compliments of TSD partner, Special Used Auto Parts (located at
\n5700 Burleson Rd. in Austin). Benefitting the school\u2019s Special Needs
\nstudents, fans can smash a junk car painted in both TSD & ISD colors. TSD\u2019s
\nhomecoming is open to the public.<\/p>\n

The Texas School for the Deaf is the oldest continuously operating public
\nschool in Texas. Educating deaf and hard of hearing students of Texas since
\n1856, the campus also provides outreach and educational resources for
\nstudents, their families and professionals in the field throughout the state
\nof Texas. With educational excellence and a strong belief in a culture and
\ncommunity at TSD, students form a unique identity based on their individual
