Through this program,<br \/>\nteachers are trained to work with hearing-impaired children and help them<br \/>\nspeak. Children are taught to speak using a combination of amplification<br \/>\ntechnology and individual therapy.<\/p>\n<p>Enrollment in the university\u2019s program has grown from six students to 23<br \/>\nstudents ever since Blane Trautwein joined the Health Science Center staff<br \/>\nas director of the program in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Science Center Deaf Education and Hearing Science Program has a<br \/>\nclose partnership with the Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children in San<br \/>\nAntonio.
