Hi, freedom-lovers!!!!! Please come out to protest the fact that same-sex couples continue to be denied the protections of civil marriage in this state (hundreds of rights and responsibilities) and country (over 1,138 rights and responsibilities). Committed same-sex couples will go to the Travis County Tax-Assessor’s office this week to apply for marriage licenses, and in accordance with current discriminatory law, will be denied access simply because they are same-sex rather than different-sex couples. We will protest that denial on <\/p>\n

After listening to speakers, we will have a marriage ceremony for all couples who wish to participate in which we exchange vows of commitment—–out of an understanding that marriage is really about the commitment that two people make to each other, regardless of government discrimination—and that the effect of current policies isn’t to keep people from marrying in a social sense but to leave those marriages unprotected legally. We will also have wedding cake for all and live music. So whether you’re part of a couple or not, please come, participate, and protest! <\/p>\n
