Miss Deaf Texas 2011 Announcement<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Miss Deaf Texas Pageant is coming to Houston on July 30, 2011! We are
\nactively recruiting contestants.<\/p>\n

Please pass along this information to all the young deaf females between the
\nages of 17-29. For more information, please log on

The MDT Pageant\u2019s motto is: \u201cIt is the Time of Your Life.\u201d Hence, the MDT
\nPageant is not a contest of beauty. It is a lifetime enrichment and
\nmotivational program. It instills positive practices for all young Deaf
\nwomen. The Miss Deaf Texas Pageant is open to young Deaf women from the
\nState of Texas representing their hometowns. The Pageant offers these women
\nthe opportunity to:<\/p>\n

* Develop personality
\n* Develop self-confidence
\n* Display talents
\n* Share ambitions
\n* Educational rewards in the form of scholarships
\n* Develop leadership skills
\n* Everyone turns out a winner!
\n* Share awareness of deaf culture and concerns
\n* A chance to enter the Miss Deaf America Pageant<\/p>\n

Eligibility Requirements:<\/p>\n

* Single
\n* Never have been married
\n* Never have bore a child
\n* United States citizen
\n* Resident of Texas for at least 1 year
\n* Never been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony
\n* Between the ages of 18 and 30 by July 1 2012
\n* Hearing loss must meet the requirements of a 65-decibel or more hearing
\nloss<\/p>\n

A Pageant contestant usually represents an organization (deaf or hearing) or
\na business. A sponsor also may be a school or college that has a deaf
\nprogram, a business, a private club (Lions, Quota, Frat Divisions, etc.),
\nparents, friends, etc. The sponsor is responsible for the contestant’s entry
\nfee, hotel expenses & food.<\/p>\n

The Miss Deaf Texas Pageant as well as the Miss Deaf America Pageant is
\njudged on:<\/p>\n

* Private interview
\n* Presentation
\n* Talent
\n* Evening gowns
\n* Stage interviews<\/p>\n

Miss Deaf Texas will represent the Texas Association for the Deaf at public
\nevents, ceremonies, presentations for two years. She will be a great role
\nmodel for young deaf people in Texas. She also will participate in the Miss
\nDeaf America Pageant during the biennial National Association of the Deaf
\nConvention held in July 2012. The winner of the Miss Deaf America Pageant
\nwill represent the National Association of the Deaf for two years.<\/p>\n
