SIGNING SANTA VISITS DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING CHILDREN<\/strong><\/p>\n

HOLIDAY MUSIC PERFORMED BY STUDENTS FROM TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF<\/strong><\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 December 8, 2010 Santa arrives at Barton Creek Mall today,
\nready to check wish lists from deaf and hard of hearing students, 6:30 to
\n8:30 PM. That\u2019s right. Santa knows many languages, including American Sign
\nLanguage (ASL).<\/p>\n

Signing Santa, sponsored annually by the Northwest Optimist and Junior
\nOptimist Clubs, gives area children who use ASL to communicate, the
\nopportunity to relay their holiday wishes directly to Santa and on to the
\nNorth Pole. Santa and his helpers from the Optimists Clubs – with volunteers
\nfrom National Instruments – provide each child a free photo with Santa and a
\nsmall treat from under the holiday tree. Students from the Texas School for
\nthe Deaf will provide entertainment performing interpreted holiday carols.<\/p>\n
