To promote awareness and confidence in the emergence of persons with
\ndisabilities in a diverse workforce through education, thus eliminating

This conference brings together representatives of the Career Services and
\nthe Disability Student Services offices with institutions of higher
\neducation, and a goal of developing collaborative relationships between
\nthose programs to better prepare students who are deaf of hard of hearing
\nfor career search. Employers are included so as to identify innovative
\nmethods of recruiting persons who are deaf or hard of hearing as potential
\nemployees.<\/p>\n

\nEqual Employment Opportunity Commission Houston District Office.<\/p>\n

Overview: \u201cBackpacks and Baggage\u201d – The major barriers to achievement by
\npeople with disabilities in our society continues to be universal
\nstereotyped thinking and assumptions about what people can and cannot do.
\nThe fact is that the range of skills and abilities of persons within any
\ndisability group is enormous. The need is to get rid of stereotypical images
\nand view each individual as just that: \u201can individual.\u201d This training
\nsession will explore the \u201cbaggage of our own backpacks\u201d and attempt to
\nabolish old perceptions and add new perspectives.<\/p>\n

\nTexas Diversity Council, DARS \u2013 Division for Rehabilitation Services, DARS
