He was born in<br \/>\nMeadow Texas to Cleo &amp; Clara Thornton.  His mother died when LV was a<br \/>\ntoddler, and he and his baby brother were raised by their eldest sister<br \/>\nViola and her husband Harry.  He graduated from the Texas School for the<br \/>\nDeaf in Austin Texas.  He married and had three daughters, Debbie, Cathy and<br \/>\nMarcie.  He spent his life working hard as an auto body repairman to take<br \/>\ncare of his  family. He has 7 grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, Brad, Meagan,<br \/>\nRheanna, Brittani and Will.  He has 6 great grandchildren, Trston, Dilan,<br \/>\nKaiya, Landen, Corbin and Kieran.  He was preceded in death by his wife,<br \/>\nBetty Thornton, his parents, his 5 sisters, 3 brothers.  He is survivced by<br \/>\nhis baby brother&#8230;Al and his wife Kaye.<\/p>\n<p>He spent the summers of his youth working on a shrimp boat down on the Gulf<br \/>\ncoast in Rockport.    Shortly after he married, they moved to Victoria and<br \/>\nhe became an auto body repairman.  This is the line of work he stayed in<br \/>\nuntil he retired.  He loved to fish and garden.  He loved spending time with<br \/>\nhis family outdoors!  He was the world&#8217;s best at creating something from<br \/>\nnothing!   He could put a smile on anyone&#8217;s face and he was ALWAYS<br \/>\ndetermined to do that!  His daughter asked him one time &#8220;Daddy, why are you<br \/>\nalways teasing the waitresses?&#8221;  He responded, &#8220;Because I like to make<br \/>\npeople smile and take that ugly frown off their faces!&#8221;  Yep.. that was LV!<br \/>\nA great man who always did the best he knew how! He will be truly and<br \/>\ndeeply missed!<\/p>\n<p>LV Thornton passed away peacefully on January 17, 2011.  He is survived by<br \/>\nhis 3 daughters, seven grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one brother and<br \/>\nnumerous neices and nephews and dear friends.  A memorial service will be<br \/>\nheld on Friday, January 21st at 1:30 pm at Collinwood Nursing Facility<br \/>\nlocated at 3100 S Rigsbee Dr., Plano, Texas.
