ADARA 2011 Conference April 13-16 in San Diego<\/strong><\/p>\n

Riding the Wave of Change, ADARA\u2019s 2011 conference, will be held on April
\n13-16 at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley Hotel. Pre-conference
\nsessions will be on Wednesday, April 13 with the opening keynote session on
\nThursday morning. The conference will conclude on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
\nConference registration forms may be found at http:\/\/www.adara.org<\/a> If
\npaying by check, you must mail registration. Online registration is
\ncurrently available through paypal.. Earlybird registration ends on
\nFebruary 28 so save money by registering now.<\/p>\n

Hotel rooms are available for $135.00 and room reservation information is
\navailable on the ADARA website. Conference registration includes the Friday
\nnight awards banquet and opening reception on Wednesday evening. The board
\nis planning focus groups as a part of this reception to receive membership
\ninput for future ADARA goals and activitites. Poster sessions will also be
\navailable during this time.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, April 13, there are two pre-conference concurrent sessions
\nfrom 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.<\/p>\n

* Play Therapy with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children presented by Alexis
\nGreeves.
\n* Become a Stronger Advocate for Your Communication Access presented by
\nPauline Annarino and Lillian Garcia Peterkin.<\/p>\n

Dr. Alan Hurwitz, President of Gallaudet University will be the opening
\nkeynote speaker. Dr. Hurwitz will share his vision related to Gallaudet
\nUniversity pertaining to future jobs for Gallaudet graduates and how
\nGallaudet can collaborate with ADARA members to provide effective services
\nfor deaf and hard of hearing persons.<\/p>\n

On Thursday afternoon, PEPNet will be sponsoring a panel discussion on
\n\u201cFilling the Service Gaps\u201d Presenters have not yet been selected.<\/p>\n

Two plenary sessions will conclude the conference on Saturday:<\/p>\n

* Irene Leigh from Gallaudet University and Rose Marie Toscano from National
\nTechnical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) will discuss the new National Task
\nForce on Health Care Careers for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons. They
\nwill be sharing information on the purpose and goals of the task force.<\/p>\n

* Mark Seeger of CSD will be sharing information on Video Remote
\nInterpreting (VRI) and how ADARA members may be able to make better use of
\nthis service to save time and expense.<\/p>\n
