This conference<br \/>\nwill be different from traditional conferences. This conference theme<br \/>\nfocuses on \u201cFuture Thinkers!\u201d Our keynote speakers and workshops will focus<br \/>\non \u201cthinking outside the box!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We have Mark Gobble and Carrie Lou Garberoglio as our opening and<br \/>\nclosing speakers. Those two people were responsible for the recent event<br \/>\n\u201cTEDxislay\u201d held at ACC on May 15, 2010. The TEDxislay event focused on Deaf<br \/>\nspeakers who are future thinkers.<\/p>\n<p>Our next speaker is Howard Rosenblum. He is our newest Executive Manager for<br \/>\nNAD office in Silver Spring, Maryland. We are thrilled to have him accept<br \/>\nour invitation to speak at this conference.<\/p>\n<p>We are excited to have newest workshops to present at this conference. The<br \/>\nbuzz word around Deaf leaders in California is \u201cDeafhood\u201d written by Dr.<br \/>\nPaddy Ladd. Dr. Donald Grushin, author of Dr.DonG \u201es videoclips on<br \/>\nYoutube.com, has accepted the invitation to do a 3-hour long workshop on<br \/>\n\u201cDeafhood\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Marina Fanshteyn will do a presentation on \u201cFinancial Success Principles\u201d.<br \/>\nShe was one of the co-founders of Deaf Business Expo held in Houston in May<br \/>\n2010. We are waiting to hear on confirmation from other workshop<br \/>\npresenters.<\/p>\n<p>Our Young Adult Fest will be underway at the same time the TAD conference is<br \/>\nheld. DARS counselors can send young adults 17-22 to this workshop. We will<br \/>\nhave a Deaf Rapper as the entertainment for this special youth event. There<br \/>\nwill be more workshops coming up and we will announce them as we go! Come<br \/>\nall!<\/p>\n<p>SWCID Community College for the Deaf &amp; Hard of Hearing Persons will be<br \/>\nhosting the Texas Association of the Deaf  (TAD) on our Campus on June<br \/>\n16-18, 2011.  The TAD is an organization for persons who are deaf or hard of<br \/>\nhearing. It is a membership organization to provide information and<br \/>\neducation, to bring the viewpoint on various issues affecting the lives of<br \/>\nthose who are deaf or hard of hearing at all levels of the community. It has<br \/>\nproven its commitment to address the needs of deaf and hard of hearing<br \/>\nmembers for more than a century.  TAD was an important part of seeing that<br \/>\nSWCID was established more than thirty years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the conference is \u201cWestern Winds: Forward Thinkers of the<br \/>\nFuture!\u201d. Those attending will be deaf and hard of hearing individuals,<br \/>\nprofessionals who work with those with deaf\/hard of hearing individuals and<br \/>\ndeaf children.<\/p>\n<p>We are calling for presenters who wish to do their topic during the TAD<br \/>\nConference.   We ask that your topic focus be related to our theme of<br \/>\n\u201cForward Thinkers and Current Concerns\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to present your paper, please get in touch with us by email or<br \/>\nby mailing us the presentation information form.
