If you don\u2019t think that participating in this workshop would be fun and
\nbeneficial, answer the questions below:<\/p>\n

1) Have you gotten arrested and jailed without an interpreter?
\n2) Does a private doctor\u2019s office have to employ at least 15 employees
\nbefore providing an interpreter or other auxiliary aid\/service?
\n3) Does a Social Security office have to follow ADA?
\n4) Under the ADA, are employers required to pay for interpreters or other
\nauxiliary aid\/service for their Deaf\/hard of hearing employees?
\n5) Have you ever been confused about what ADA really says about who provides
\nan interpreter or other auxiliary aid\/service?<\/p>\n

If you answer \u201cYes\u201d to at least one of the above questions, come to my
\ntraining to find out and to have fun learning. The training would empower
\nyou to learn how to self-advocate as a Deaf or Hard of Hearing individual.

The Speaker-<\/p>\n

Brian Determan, an ASL-native deaf individual, serves as the Deafness
\nResource Specialist 7A, through Communication Axess Ability Group, for a
\nprogram funded by Texas DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative
\nServices) – Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. He works with
\nvarious agencies and service providers regarding their access obligations
\nunder the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act. His
\ntraining will empower deaf or hard of hearing individuals with knowledge of
\ntheir civil rights and how to self-advocate.<\/p>\n

Accommodations for participants such as real time captioning (C.A.R.T.) or
\nsign to voice interpreter services must be requested by Friday, February 18,
