Summer Career Exploration Program for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing High School
\nStudents<\/strong><\/p>\n

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2011) \u2014 The Explore Your Future (EYF) program at
\nRochester Institute of Technology\u2019s National Technical Institute for the
\nDeaf offers deaf and hard-of-hearing college-bound high school sophomores
\nand juniors a unique opportunity to experience life on a college campus,
\nexplore their interests and sample various careers.<\/p>\n

More than 200 students from across the country typically attend this
\nsix-day, summer career exploration program that provides them with hands-on
\nactivities related to careers in engineering, art, business, computers,
\nscience and more.<\/p>\n

Participants may pick one of two EYF sessions, July 16 to 21 or July 23 to
\n28, 2011. On the final day of each session, parents attend a workshop that
\nhelps them prepare their student for life after high school.<\/p>\n

Students can apply online at http:\/\/www.rit.edu\/NTID\/EYFNR<\/a>. For more

The National Technical Institute for the Deaf is one of eight colleges of
\nRochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. NTID was established by
\nCongress in 1965 to provide technical college opportunities for deaf and
\nhard-of-hearing students who were underemployed in those fields. Today, a
\nrecord 1,521 students attend NTID; more than 1,300 of them are deaf or
\nhard-of-hearing. Others are hearing students enrolled in interpreting or
\ndeaf education programs.<\/p>\n
