Texicon Welcomes The Deaf… why are we trying to get the deaf involved? I’m glad you asked. I attended Origins Game Fair in 2006 and was fortunate to meet a man name Jonas Saunders. He was an employee of a game company I volunteered for.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
I was very excited to meet him. I thought it was awful that I had to single button text him on my phone to communicate. It really got me thinking. I decided I wanted to learn sign language. That’s when I met Kris and Amber Kaemmerling. I took two years of classes from them and had wanted to eventually become an interpreter as well. The school changed and they quit teaching there, life happens. I tried to get involved in the deaf community but never was able to find anyone to practice with, and so I moved on. <\/div>\n

Fast forward several years and BING I have a game convention that I’m running. <\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
I still believe in our mission: Gaming is for everyone. It’s also great for you. Not the “eat your vegetables” good for you but good for your mind and soul. It builds communities, strengthens relationships, and is great for imagination and thought.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
I want the deaf community to belong here too. Gaming is for everyone! <\/div>\n

Texicon is the brain child of Kevin Pajak. He was sitting under the apple tree with Newton when apples fell and hit them on their heads. Newton came up with Calculus and Kevin came up with Texicon.<\/div>\n

This is Fort Worth’s first game convention in years. We are bringing the community together to allow it to have a place to meet once a year. We want to provide support for: Gamers, Game Manufactures, and Venues. <\/div>\n

This year Texicon welcomes a gaming industry legends, Jack Herman and Jeff Dee, the originators of Villains and Vigilantes–a super hero role playing game, fly to our little ½ acre. Super Gamers in a Super World.<\/div>\n

There are three different regions to choose from: Role Playing, Board Games, and Miniatures. We also are hosting Seminars, we offer something for everyone.<\/div>\n

Event Times: <\/div>\n
The convention kicks off Friday at 2 p.m. and continue through Sunday at 6 p.m.. That means 24hr gaming! <\/div>\n

What the heck is a Magnate anyway??<\/div>\n
I’m glad you asked. As defined a Magnate is: a person of great influence, importance, or standing in a particular enterprise, field of business. For us, Magnates are people that are highly knowledgeable in games with an emphasis on a game type. <\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Texicon’s Magnates oversee a specific region of the convention and to whom the game masters in that region report. They are staff and if you have a question or concern please seek them out as they have the authority to handle any and all situations that may arise.<\/div>\n
