BUILDING AN ETHICAL TOOLBOX FOR MENTAL HEALTH INTERPRETING<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nMentally Ill Deaf<\/p>\n

Mental Health interpreting has unique challenges, and special linguistic and
\nethical considerations. The focus of the day will be on mental health status
\nassessments, infusing ethical considerations throughout the day.
\nParticipants will be introduced to use of the demand control schema to guide
\nthem in making ethical decisions.<\/p>\n

Participants will be introduced to language dysfluency issues and how these
\nmight affect a MH assessment, and be given some tools to manage those issues
\nwhile interpreting. Participants will practice ways to interpret common
\nphrases used in MH assessments. Participants will review RID\u201ds standard
\npractice paper on MH interpreting.<\/p>\n
