Deaf<br \/>\nand Jewish, she was considered a double outcast. Embarrassed by her<br \/>\ndisability, Ingelore\u2019s parents made no attempts to communicate with her,<br \/>\nresulting in delayed speech, completing her first sentence at age 12. She<br \/>\nentered first grade at age 13, but her education was cut short by<br \/>\nKristallnacht, after which Ingelore was thrown out of school. Told by<br \/>\nIngelore herself, the film chronicles her trials and tribulations in<br \/>\nNazi-controlled Germany and her escape to America. Her story includes a<br \/>\nbrutal rape by Nazi cadets, a kind New York doctor who performs an illegal<br \/>\nabortion in 1940 and her lessons of personal freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Followed by a discussion with Ingelore Herz Honigstein and her son Frank<br \/>\nStiefel, Director and Producer<br \/>\nFree and Open to the Community<\/p>\n<p>WHERE: R.L.
