League of Women Voters of Tarrant County’s 2011 Fort Worth Mayoral
\nCandidate Forum: April 27th – 7:00 PM – UNT Health Science Center,
\nAuditorium Medical Education & Training Building – Camp Bowie & Montgomery
\nStreet – Fort Worth, Texas! See you there!<\/p>\n

With all the changes taking place in the City of Fort Worth to make City
\nGovernment more accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing community, it is
\nimportant to learn about the candidates running for Mayor of Fort Worth.
\nMayor Mike Moncrief is not running for re-election. Candidates who have
\nserved on the Fort Worth City Council before are running for Mayor now.
\nBefore now, access for the deaf and hard of hearing community was
\nquestionable. Some of you may know more about this than Tracey and Friends,
\nprior to 2008.<\/p>\n

This is an important time in Fort Worth history for the deaf and hard of
\nhearing community as well as all of Fort Worth, especially for those who
\ncommunicate in American Sign Language. Please attend so that we elect a
\nMayor who will help move steps forward, not backwards, for the deaf and hard
\nof hearing community. Sign Language Interpreting will be provided. This is
\nan opportunity to learn about and meet the candidates. Join us! See map

\nyou. An example of a question to ask candidates is: What are your plans to
\nimprove access to city government and access within our city for the deaf
\nand hard of hearing community, including employment, captioning city council
\nmeetings on television and the Internet, deaf representation on city boards
\nand commissions, and getting businesses and other government offices in our
\ncity to do the same?<\/p>\n

Remember to register to vote, especially if you are nearing your 18th
\nbirthday.<\/p>\n
