You’re invited to some upcoming events in the Lubbock area geared towards
\nthose interested in the Deaf-Blind community.<\/p>\n

A leader from the Deaf-Blind Young Adults in Action (DBYAA) group will
\nprovide training for those interested in becoming a Support Service Provider
\n(SSP) for deaf-blind individuals. There will be time for a question\/answer
\nsession, so if you\u2019re interested in tactile sign language, the life of a
\ndeaf-blind person, or getting involved in the field, then this should
\nsatiate your curiosity!<\/p>\n

Our guest, Corrina, will also co-present with Texas Tech\u2019s Dr. Amy Parker at
\nan evening lecture about building leadership skills in college students with
\ndisabilities. This is an interpreted event.<\/p>\n

Corrina Veesart, a deafblind advocate, will share her experiences with to
\nhighlight the needs of people who are deafblind, creative strategies for
\nworking with people who have sensory impairments and insights into their
\nquests as advocates for the rights of people with disabilities. Corrina is a
\nyoung adult leader from the Deaf-Blind Young Adults in Action and has met
\nPresident Obama in her journey to spread knowledge about Deaf-Blind
\ncommunity.<\/p>\n

Dr. Amy Parker works as a Research Assistant Professor at Texas Tech
\nUniversity in the Virginia Murray Sowell Center. Her emphasis of research
\nwas on evidence-based practices in teaching and rehabilitation for people
\nwho are visually impaired or deafblind.<\/p>\n
