The title of their presentation is \u201cADA: HOW TO MAKE REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS MORE EFFECTIVE\u201d.  The conference will be held at the Hilton Arlington, June 21st \u2013 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>Here is some background information about each presenter: <\/p>\n<p>Faye Kuo, who hails from Chicago, is a Deaf individual, who also has an older Deaf brother.  Faye moved to Austin in 2006 and is currently is a Deaf Rights Specialist\/Attorney for Advocacy, Incorporated.  She serves Deaf and hard of hearing individuals who have faced discrimination based on their hearing loss. She is also involved with developing policy and legislation to further accessibility and other issues for the Deaf and hard of hearing community.   Faye graduated from RIT with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and received her Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Heather Bise, born to hearing parents and Deaf since birth, holds a B.A. degree that includes Speech and Hearing Science, English, and Child Development from the University of North Texas, Denton. Heather was raised orally and as a young adult she discovered that there was a world of individuals out there who were like herself and began to learn ASL. Heather\u2019s passion includes informing parents of newly diagnosed Deaf children about the resources available to them.  Heather currently works as a Regional Specialist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, funded by DARS, and her office is located at Deaf Action Center, Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>John A. Cage, Deaf since birth, is the Regional Specialist, CSD of Texas, San Antonio, since July, 2000.  Some of John\u2019s roles and responsibilities at this office are to work with the state and local governments, organizations, and private entities.  Ensuring that services are accessible and readily available to people who are Deaf and\/or have a hearing loss.  In addition, he assists consumers by sharing information about services available to them and provides training, information, referrals, and advocacy, as needed.<br \/>\nJohn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C.  He was the first Deaf individual to be certified in Therapeutic Recreation from Gallaudet.  John has also worked in a rehabilitation hospital for nine years.  While employed at the hospital, he developed his expertise and knowledge in developing therapeutic activities for people with various disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the upcoming TAD conference please check out www.deaftexas.org.
