Texicon Convention goes deaf for 2011<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll have interpreters on hand as part of the convention, for the deaf
\nevents and to assist where needed.<\/p>\n

Texicon Welcomes The Deaf\u2026 why are we trying to get the deaf involved? I\u2019m
\nglad you asked. I attended Origins Game Fair in 2006 and was fortunate to
\nmeet a man name Jonas Saunders. He was an employee of a game company I
\nvolunteered for.<\/p>\n

I was very excited to meet him. I thought it was awful that I had to single
\nbutton text him on my phone to communicate. It really got me thinking. I
\ndecided I wanted to learn sign language. That\u2019s when I met Kris and Amber
\nKaemmerling. I took two years of classes from them and had wanted to
\neventually become an interpreter as well. The school changed and they quit
\nteaching there, life happens. I tried to get involved in the deaf community
\nbut never was able to find anyone to practice with, and so I moved on.<\/p>\n

Fast forward several years and BING I have a game convention that I\u2019m
\nrunning.<\/p>\n

I still believe in our mission: Gaming is for everyone. It\u2019s also great for
\nyou. Not the \u201ceat your vegetables\u201d good for you but good for your mind and
\nsoul. It builds communities, strengthens relationships, and is great for
\nimagination and thought.<\/p>\n

I want the deaf community to belong here too. Gaming is for everyone!<\/p>\n

To learn little bit more about Texicon:<\/p>\n

Texicon is the brain child of Kevin Pajak. He was sitting under the apple
\ntree with Newton when apples fell and hit them on their heads. Newton came
\nup with Calculus and Kevin came up with Texicon.<\/p>\n

This is Fort Worth\u2019s first game convention in years. We are bringing the
\ncommunity together to allow it to have a place to meet once a year. We want
\nto provide support for: Gamers, Game Manufactures, and Venues.<\/p>\n

Bring you every game type, as well as seminars.<\/p>\n

“Twenty Four Hour Gaming at its best!” \u2013 Sun Su<\/p>\n

There will giveaways and special guests.<\/p>\n

Special Guest:
\nThis year Texicon welcomes a gaming industry legends, Jack Herman and Jeff
\nDee, the originators of Villains and Vigilantes\u2013a super hero role playing
\ngame, fly to our little \u00bd acre. Super Gamers in a Super World.<\/p>\n

There are three different regions to choose from: Role Playing, Board Games,
\nand Miniatures. We also are hosting Seminars, we offer something for
\neveryone.<\/p>\n

Event Times:
\nThe convention kicks off Friday at 2 p.m. and continue through Sunday at 6
\np.m.. That means 24hr gaming!<\/p>\n

What the heck is a Magnate anyway??
\nI\u2019m glad you asked. As defined a Magnate is: a person of great influence,
\nimportance, or standing in a particular enterprise, field of business. For
\nus, Magnates are people that are highly knowledgeable in games with an
\nemphasis on a game type.<\/p>\n

Texicon\u2019s Magnates oversee a specific region of the convention and to whom
\nthe game masters in that region report. They are staff and if you have a
\nquestion or concern please seek them out as they have the authority to
\nhandle any and all situations that may arise.<\/p>\n

Our Staff:
\nKevin Pajak \u2013 President (basically just hangs out during the con).
\nKarl Pajak \u2013 Vice President (Runs a bunch of games and hangs out).
\nGreg Pitts \u2013 Convention Chair (Runs the show once the convention has
\nstarted)<\/p>\n

\nTiffany Franzoni \u2013 Board Games (She\u2019s brought you famous games like: mud
\npatty pie, girls rock!, and patty cake. She\u2019s runs around like Flash\u2026 super
\nfast so catch her quick!)
\nRollin Kearley \u2013 The Wizard of Wayward Street, The Mighty Zar of Roles\u2026 His
\nwordy ways will fantasticabulate you!
\nTory Henry \u2013 Registration Magnate. Sweet as a pecan pie in summer. You\u2019ll
\nbe greeted by her warm smile when you arrive.<\/p>\n
