Campers will learn through hands-on activities<br \/>\nsuch as building their own computer to take home, discovering the secrets of<br \/>\nroller coaster design and becoming a commander on a simulated mission to<br \/>\nMars. They also will meet other boys with similar interests, enjoy<br \/>\nsocial activities and get their own lab coats.<\/p>\n<p>TechBoyz is an expansion of TechGirlz, a popular summer program for deaf and<br \/>\nhard-of-hearing girls for many years at RIT\/NTID.<\/p>\n<p>Both TechBoyz and TechGirlz will be held July 30 through Aug. 5, 2011, on<br \/>\nthe RIT campus. The boys and girls will have independent classes and share<br \/>\nsupervised social activities in the evenings.<\/p>\n<p>Camp classes are taught in English and in sign language, are certified by<br \/>\nthe New York State Department of Health, and incorporate National Science<br \/>\nEducation standards. The cost is $650 and includes tuition, housing in a<br \/>\nresidence hall on campus, and meals and snacks for the week.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to apply is May 31, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Parents are invited to opening and closing activities. RIT enrolls 17,000 full- and part-time students in more<br \/>\nthan 200 career-oriented and professional programs, and its cooperative<br \/>\neducation program is one of the oldest and largest in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>NTID, one of nine colleges of RIT, was established by Congress in 1965 to<br \/>\nprovide college opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing students who were<br \/>\nunderemployed in technical fields.
