WITH SCHOOL OUT, SENIORS TAKE CENTER STAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

INSPIRED BY DEAF M.D., 2011 GRADUATING CLASS CELEBRATES ACHIEVEMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 June 4, 2010 Today at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD),
\nthe Class of 2011 takes a final stroll down the South Austin campus to
\nassemble in the R.L. Davis Auditorium for graduation commencement ceremonies
\nat 7:00 pm.<\/p>\n

TSD wrapped up school activities yesterday with the annual senior
\nscholarship and high school awards ceremony, when approximately 50 different
\nscholarships totaling almost $20,000, were awarded to graduating seniors
\nseeking post-graduate studies and career training.<\/p>\n

Tonight, TSD welcomes Dr. Christopher J. Moreland, Assistant Professor and
\nHospitalist at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio,
\nto deliver the commencement address.<\/p>\n

A native Texan, Dr. Moreland was an honors graduate at the University of
\nTexas-Austin, where he passed from major to major before landing in pre-med.
\nWhile studying internal medicine at the University of Texas at Houston
\nMedical School, Moreland was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the honor
\nmedical society, in just his third year.<\/p>\n

After completing his residency at the University of California-Davis Medical
\nCenter, today Moreland is one of an estimated 25 deaf and hard of hearing
\nphysicians now practicing in the nation.<\/p>\n
