REVISED JOB POSTING<\/p>\n

Deaf Services Outreach\/Educator \u2013 (Part Time – 20 hours weekly) – $17,250\/yr<\/p>\n

The Deaf Services Outreach\/Educator conducts targeted outreach to raise
\nawareness in the Deaf community about SafePlace and domestic and sexual
\nviolence. Provides training\/education on topics related to healthy
\nrelationships and domestic\/sexual violence against persons who are Deaf and
\ntraining on Deaf culture\/sensitivity to hearing professionals. Builds
\nrelationships\/partnerships with local Deaf community and plans public
\nawareness events related to domestic\/sexual violence. Staffs booths at local
\nDeaf events to promote information about SafePlace. This position is
\nexpected to work collaboratively with the Deaf Services team to achieve
\nprogram goals. Position targeted to start September 1, 2011.<\/p>\n

Requirements: Bachelors degree in adult education, social work, psychology,
\nsociology, women\u2019s studies or related field or equivalent life experience;
\nfluency in American Sign Language and life experience or extensive knowledge
\nof Deaf culture; experience in planning and conducting
\ntrainings\/presentations; knowledge of the dynamics of domestic and sexual
\nviolence; excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple
\npriorities effectively; some weekend and evening work required; reliable
\ntransportation necessary.<\/p>\n
