Job Opportunity – Abilene<\/strong><\/p>\n

RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director for Salary, Hard of Hearing Specialist
\nfor Supervision, Deafness Resource Specialist for Supervision<\/p>\n

HOURS: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm<\/p>\n

REQUIREMENTS: College degree preferred; not required<\/p>\n

Have knowledge and ability to address the unique communication needs and
\nissue of persons who are deaf and hard of hearing<\/p>\n

Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)<\/p>\n

Must demonstrate knowledge of telecommunications devices for deaf and hard
\nof hearing consumers<\/p>\n

Knowledge base of local, state and federal services available to those who
\nare deaf and hard of hearing<\/p>\n

Strong written and public speaking skills<\/p>\n

Strong interpersonal skills and initiative<\/p>\n

Good computer skills<\/p>\n

Sensitivity to and respect of people with any degree hearing loss<\/p>\n

Must have reliable transportation<\/p>\n

PRIMARY DUTIES:<\/p>\n

1. Meet clients one on one in the office for client intake and
\ncase assessment<\/p>\n

2. Work closely with both the Hearing Loss Resource Specialist (HLRS) and
\nthe Deafness Resource Specialist (DRS)<\/p>\n

3. Requires ability to maintain client files and confidentiality.<\/p>\n

4. Work closely with the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS)
\nto understand DRS eligibility criteria and make appropriate referrals.<\/p>\n

5. Complete daily statistic reports, client forms and monthly reports in
\na timely manner.<\/p>\n

6. Ensure services and outcomes are of expected quality through
\nfollow-up contacts with consumers and through consumer\u00e2??s satisfaction
\nsurveys.<\/p>\n

7. Assist and make initial contact via the telephone, fax, e-mail,
\npostal services, and\/or personal office visit.<\/p>\n

8. Other clerical duties such as faxing, email distribution, supply
\norders, etc…<\/p>\n

9. Create and disseminate brochures, information packets, and
\nother information.<\/p>\n

10. Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.<\/p>\n

11. Demonstrate a positive attitude, cooperation and support to co-workers<\/p>\n

12. Reflect DAC image both in the office and when representing DAC outside
\nthe office by showing respect for agency mission and a professional attitude
\nat all times.<\/p>\n

13. Maintain compliance with all Deaf Action Center policies, procedures
\nand requirements.<\/p>\n
