IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

FROM THE DEAF SENIORS OF AMERICA BOARD AND THE DSA 2011 CHICAGO COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 7, 2011<\/p>\n

Due to the following circumstances below, the DSA 2011 Chicago Committee has
\nreached an unprecedented decision and notified the DSA Board of its
\ndecision:<\/p>\n

* Excessive large number of withdrawals (currently the registration count is
\n1,157)
\n* Declination from the hotel to negotiate for a possible satisfactory
\nreduction in the contracted costs
\n* Lack of interest from Chicago people and many seniors attending the
\nconference
\n* Negative media
\n* Lack of sponsors<\/p>\n

In view of these above factors, the DSA Board has conceded to the
\nCommittee\u2019s decision, which is that the DSA 2011 conference be cancelled.
\nIf the conference had continued, severe financial obligations would have
\nresulted.<\/p>\n

It has been a very difficult decision made by the Chicago Committee that has
\nworked very hard on the conference for years. In face of these glaring
\nnegatives, the Committee had no choice other than to cancel the conference.<\/p>\n

More details will be forthcoming in subsequent email announcements, which
\nwill also be posted in the DSA website. Check
