\nInstructor\/Employment Specialist within our Deaf & Hard of Hearing Program.

Job Description<\/p>\n

Bilingual (ASL-English) Computer Literacy Instructor\/ Employment Specialist<\/p>\n

Responsible for the Jesse H. Jones Computer and Technical Center. Teaches
\ncomputer competency skills to adults who are deaf and hard of hearing to
\naugment existing literacy skills. Provides full employment service case
\nmanagement to deaf\/hard of hearing clients by assisting with job placement
\nand retention. Assists with the documentation requirements related to the
\nDept. of Assistive & Rehabilitative Services (DARS).<\/p>\n

Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS)<\/p>\n

SALARY RANGE: Grade V<\/p>\n

Education\/Experience:<\/p>\n

* Bachelor’s degree or higher, in rehabilitation, business, marketing, or
\nrelated human services; and one year of documented experience providing
\nemployment services with assistance in computer usage to individuals; or
\n* Associate’s degree in computer science, rehabilitation, business,
\nmarketing, or related human services; and two years of documented experience
\nin a professional or personal setting routinely working with people with the
\ndeaf or hard of hearing; or
\n* Training and certification in the operation of computers, including
\nMicrosoft Windowes,
\n* MicroSoft Office Suite and, Internet Explorer.<\/p>\n

Skills:
\n* Ability to teach reading, writing and math, using computer and other
\ntechnology.
\n* Experience in computer literacy instruction.
\n* Fluent in ASL and other sign systems.
\n* Intimate knowledge of deafness and deaf culture.
\n* Demonstrated advanced knowledge of current business application software.
\n* Ability to plan and organize work in a time efficient manner.
\n* Ability to work as a team member.
\n* Ability to represent agency in a professional manner.
\n* Excellent written and communication skills
\n* Excellent interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n

JOB DUTIES:
\n* Maintains statistics on all enrollments and program participation,
\nincluding certifications and levels achieved.
\n* Provides instruction in computer software for those students interested in
\nand showing aptitude for word processing, spreadsheet and database software.<\/p>\n

JOB DUTIES:
\n* Provides assistance in basic reading, writing and math skills in computer
\nlab. Provide instruction in other areas, such as social studies, and
\nscience.
\n* Maintains records and complete reports on time.
\n* Develops individualized instructional plans to meet students’ academic
\nneeds. Review and evaluate students\u2019 progress on an ongoing basis.
\n* Develops and implement culturally-appropriate assessment and evaluation of
\nstudents.
\n* Maintains student documentation consistent with funding and program
\nguidelines.
\n* Develops or adapt materials appropriate to the academic level of the
\nstudents.
\n* Plans and implements a formalized computer literacy program with specific
\nto track client progress.
\n* Provides comprehensive case management services to ensure that clients are
\nproperly prepared to engage in a successful job search.
\n* Develops and implement employment plan for each client and to that end,
\nset realistic goals, action steps, and time frames for their successful
\ncompletion.
\n* Provides for supportive services to enhance the clients\u2019 ability to get a
\njob (haircuts, referral for interviewing outfits, bus tokens for
\ntransportation to interviews, etc.).
\n* Conducts Job Readiness Skills Workshops in ASL.
\n* Solicits job orders and match clients to appropriate job openings.
\n* Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
