\n First Citizens Police Academy for the<\/strong>
\n Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Fort Worth Police
\nDepartment will begin its first 12-week Citizens Police Academy for the Deaf
\nand Hard of Hearing Community. Residents and those of you who work, conduct
\nbusiness, or attend school in the City of Fort Worth are encouraged to
\nattend. If you are seeking ways to work with your city\u2019s police department,
\nyou may also consider attending.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the Citizens Police Academy is to give citizens an
\nopportunity to learn about the various areas of the Fort Worth Police
\nDepartment. It is also an opportunity for police departments to learn from
\ncommunity members. Crime Prevention, Homicide, Traffic, Gangs, SWAT, K-9,
\nSpecial Victims, Forensics, Narcotics, Vice are examples of areas to be
\ncovered, including a hands on demonstration at the shooting range.<\/p>\n

A graduation ceremony will take place on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, for all
\nparticipants who complete the 12-week program. Family and friends are
\ninvited. Citizens Police Academy Graduates are give opportunities to
\nparticipate in various Fort Worth Police Department activities, including
\nrecruit training. Graduates also have the opportunity to learn from and
\nabout one another. It is a good way to bring communities together.<\/p>\n

\nnotarized. The 12-week program will be held at the Fort Worth Police and
\nFire Training Academy. Each week will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 9:00 PM.
\nKeep in mind that each police department is organized differently. The
\ninformation you will learn during this 12-week program is about and for the
\nFort Worth Police Department only.<\/p>\n
