SPIRIT WEEK KICKS OFF HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES AT TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF<\/strong><\/p>\n

PRE-GAME HYPE BUILDS, KICKING OFF SCHOOLS\u2019 OLDEST, BIGGEST TRADITION<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 September 19, 2011 Homecoming at the Texas School for the
\nDeaf (TSD) is still the most cherished tradition celebrated at the 150+
\nyear-old school \u2013 home of the TSD Rangers \u2013 with more than 2,000 expected to
\nattend the weekend festivities.<\/p>\n

Rooted in long-standing tradition, each year students, families, friends and
\nalumni converge on TSD\u2019s South Austin campus mall to celebrate together at
\nthe Homecoming Festival prior to the game with food booths, games and a
\nvariety of vendors.<\/p>\n

Texas School for the Deaf – located at 1102 South Congress Avenue \u2013 meets
\nJohn Paul II Catholic High School on the gridiron, Saturday, September 24 at
\n5:30 p.m., where TSD\u2019s 2010 Homecoming court will be crowned during half
\ntime.<\/p>\n

TSD\u2019s annual homecoming Pep Rally Friday at 1:00 p.m. culminates Spirit
\nWeek, with themed student activities and competitions each morning leading
\nup to the big day Saturday.<\/p>\n

Competition starts early in the day Saturday with TSD Junior Varsity and
\nVarsity Volleyball games at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. against San Marcos
\nAcademy. Then, homecoming pre-game at 5:00 p.m. will honor past homecoming
\nroyalty and former alumni, including one of the few surviving players from
\nTSD\u2019s first national football championship in 1941.<\/p>\n

The Texas School for the Deaf is the oldest continuously operating public
\nschool in Texas. Educating deaf and hard of hearing students of Texas since
\n1856, the campus also provides outreach and educational resources for
\nstudents, their families and professionals in the field throughout the state
\nof Texas. With educational excellence and a strong belief in a culture and
\ncommunity at TSD, students form a unique identity based on their individual
\nstrengths and talents. TSD is an environment where students learn, grow, and
