8th Annual Cinema Touching Disability Film<\/strong><\/p>\n

You\u2019re invited! Outstanding cinema and more is scheduled for the 8th Annual
\nCinema Touching Disability Film on October 20, 22 and 23, 2011. Yes, it is
\nfree admission.<\/p>\n

Cinema Touching Disability\u2019s opening reception will be Thursday, October 20,
\nat the Goodwill Community Center, followed by Mon Ami Claude, a past Grand
\nPrize Short Film Competition winner and Eyes In the Night (1942) a rarely
\nseen, entertaining mystery featuring heroic turns from a blind detective and
\nhis assistance dog. Then, Saturday and Sunday, the festival moves to the
\nAlamo DraftHouse South Lamar. Each night, view screenings of the popular
\nShort Film Competition finalists, vote for your favorite, and find out which
\nones won prizes from the jury panel.<\/p>\n

Also on Saturday, see the award-winning documentary Monica and David, which
\nexplores the unique marriage of two adults with Down Syndrome. Then, watch
\nan exclusive CTD video interview with the stars of the film. Plus you\u2019ll
\nhear selected readings from the winners of CTD\u2019s Pen2Paper creative writing
\ncompetition.<\/p>\n

Sunday features begin with an episode of Sue Thomas, F.B.Eye. A deaf
\nactress portrays the real life role of a deaf FBI agent with extraordinary
\nlip reading skills. The creator of Sue Thomas will answer questions in a
\nlive Skype interview. The fest will close with the Academy Award nominated
\ndocumentary Sound and Fury which poses the controversial question: If you
\ncould make your deaf child hear, would you?<\/p>\n

Of course, there will be unannounced and unique pieces of disability cinema
\neach evening.<\/p>\n
