Volunteers will need to take an estimated 2 hours of their time: one hour signing for a videotape, and one hour viewing videotapes and choosing which emotion was conveyed by the signer:  was the signer happy, sad, neutral, or surprised, in your opinion?  A $50 gift certificate (use anywhere VISA is accepted) will be provided as a thank you for participation.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications: Volunteers need to be deaf or hard of hearing and need to be fluent in American Sign Language.  Preference will be given to those who used American Sign Language in the home from a young age, usually deaf participants with deaf parents.  5-10 volunteers are needed.<\/p>\n<p>Interested in being involved in a study that will further the understanding of this rich language and will allow researchers to better understand what is communicated through the face in ASL?<\/p>\n<p>Days, evenings, and weekends are available to fit your schedule.
