CATS Opens Its 33rd Season with
\nThe Miracle Worker<\/p>\n

Creative Arts Theatre & School (CATS) is honored to open its 33rd season
\nwith one of the most successful and warmly admired plays of the modern
\nstage, The Miracle Worker by William Gibson. It\u2019s the story of how Helen
\nKeller (played by Madison Gilbert), blind and deaf from infancy, prevails
\nagainst overwhelming obstacles with the help of her teacher Annie Sullivan
\n(played by Christina Cornevin).<\/p>\n

“Once I knew only darkness and stillness…my life was without past or
\nfuture… but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand
\nthat clutched at emptiness, and my heart leaped to the rapture of living.\u201d
\nIn her own words, Helen Keller captures the inspirational heart of William
\nGibson\u2018s classic American play. Between the emptiness and the rapture,
\nthough, came a fierce struggle of wills, with Helen, in her darkness and
\nstillness, on one side, and the determined Annie Sullivan on the other, a
\nyoung woman who had endured a lifetime of pain in just twenty years.
\nGibson\u2018s text is unsparing and unflinching in its depiction of their
\nconfrontation and mutual triumph. In its long history, CATS has never
\npresented The Miracle Worker.<\/p>\n

CATS Producing Director, Merri Brewer, states, \u201cI chose the play to open our
\nseason for its depiction of human persistence. It also reminds us that
\nmiracles don’t just happen. They are a lot of work!\u201d Sharon Veselic will
\ndirect and states, “This play is a bold choice for CATS; it\u2019s challenging,
\nand the story will uplift the families that come to see it and the themes
\nwill resonate for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Miracle Worker will be interpreted by non-certified, student<\/em>
\n interpreters Lindsey Graham and Mark Wylie from Tarrant County College on<\/em>
\n October 21, Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. The play is recommended for<\/em>
\n audiences aged 8+.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tickets are only $10 for adults; $8 for students (ages 4+), military, and
\nseniors (ages 55+). Creative Arts Theatre & School is located at 1100 West
