High school diploma or GED equivalency;<br \/>\n2. Associate\u2019s degree or higher related to Interpreting or the field of<br \/>\nDeafness preferred;<br \/>\n3. Certificate in Interpreting issued by either the Board of Evaluation of<br \/>\nInterpreters or the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Out of state<br \/>\ncertification will be honored with the stipulation that Texas or RID<br \/>\ncertification is acquired within one year;<br \/>\n4. Interpret\/transliterate according to the specifications of the student\u2019s<br \/>\nIndividualized Education Program (IEP).<\/p>\n<p>2. Be informed, monitor and report to the deaf education tracking teacher<br \/>\nwhen concerns arise about the student\u2019s modifications as approved by the<br \/>\nAdmissions Review Dismissal committee (ARD).<\/p>\n<p>3. Become and remain well-versed in course material in order to demonstrate<br \/>\ncompetency in the interpreting\/or transliterating proves.<\/p>\n<p>4. Interact in a professional manner with administrators, teachers, staff,<br \/>\nstudents, visitors or individuals unfamiliar with the educational setting.<\/p>\n<p>5. Assist with in class support in either the self contained deaf education<br \/>\nsetting or the mainstream setting (i.e. small group instruction, individual<br \/>\ntutoring, reading aloud (sign) or as requested by the teacher in the<br \/>\nclassroom).<\/p>\n<p>6. Assist in providing general supervision to deaf students (i.e.<br \/>\nplayground, lunchroom, bus loading\/unloading, escorting students during<br \/>\ntransition periods).<\/p>\n<p>7. Demonstrate flexibility when role shifts take place (i.e. in class<br \/>\nsupport vs. interpreting in self-contained deaf education setting or in<br \/>\nclass support in the mainstream setting).<\/p>\n<p>8. Demonstrate understanding of assignment qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>9. Participate in continuing professional growth as required by the<br \/>\ncertification governing body (Board for Evaluation of Interpreters- BEI).<\/p>\n<p>10. Demonstrate professionalism in all ethical areas, including student<br \/>\nconfidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>11.
