THE ARTS ALIVE INSTITUTE – AUSTIN<\/p>\n
A bi-lingual inclusive arts exchange<\/p>\n
Austin, TX \u2013 VSA arts of Texas, in partnership with the Texas Education Agency, will be hosting The Arts Alive Institute, a bi-lingual inclusive arts exchange on June 19, 2007 from 8:30AM-4PM at the Sri Atmanda School at 4100 Red River (in the chapel at the corner of E. 41st Street). <\/p>\n
Bringing artists and educators together to discuss innovative ways to integrate the arts and education, The Arts Alive Institute is a one-day arts exchange of best practices in bi-lingual arts education and inclusion geared towards artists, educators, and teaching artists. The event is free and open to the public. Enjoy presentations and performances by key arts professionals, teaching artists, and administrators:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Storytelling Classroom: Applications Across the Curriculum\u201d by Diane Williams of the Mississippi Arts Commission.
\n\u201cTheatre for Social Change: A Workshop on Embodied Activism\u201d by Joni L. Jones, Ph.D.\/Omi Osun Olomo, Founder of The Austin Project, Associate Professor of The Department of Theatre and Dance and Associate Director of the Center for African and African American Studies at University of Texas at Austin.
\n\u201cCreative Writing in the Bilingual Classroom\u201d by Grady Hillman, President of Southwest Correctional Arts Network\u201d
\n\u201cExpressive Arts\u201d laboratory at the VSA arts of Texas Multi-Arts Space, located at 3710 Cedar Street, Suite 101 in the AGE Building (at the corner of 38th Street).
\n\u201cRoda Performance\u201d by Project Life, Free Angola Capoeira Society<\/p>\n
