The broadcasters, along with FEMA and the FCC,<br \/>\nhave been working hard to ensure both the success of the test AND that the<br \/>\npublic is informed and fully aware in advance.<\/p>\n<p>Remember \u2013 DON\u2019T STRESS, THIS IS ONLY A TEST!<\/p>\n<p>Also provided for your use and your websites are the links below in American<br \/>\nSign Language (ASL) in both English and Spanish for the deaf community.<br \/>\nThis is being provided and it is important to note that the video might not<br \/>\nshow or might not advise that &#8220;this is a test.&#8221; To address specific<br \/>\nconcerns for our deaf citizens since the VIDEO test might not say \u201cthis is<br \/>\nonly a test\u201d and the radio or audio version will.<\/p>\n<p>Per the FCC: due to limitations of the EAS, the video test message may not<br \/>\nbe the same and may not indicate \u201cthis is a test\u201d. This is due to the use of<br \/>\na \u201clive\u201d national code \u2013 the same code that would be used in an actual<br \/>\nemergency. Also, the background image that appears on video screens may<br \/>\nindicate \u201cthis is a test\u201d but in some cases there may be no image at all.<br \/>\nFEMA and the FCC plan to reach out to organizations representing people with<br \/>\nhearing disabilities to prepare that community for the national test.<\/p>\n<p>We provided the following links for you to view:<\/p>\n<p>English voice and text\/ASL <a href=\"http:\/\/deaflink.com\/video\/eas\/l_eng.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/deaflink.com\/video\/eas\/l_eng.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spanish voice and text\/ASL <a href=\"http:\/\/deaflink.com\/video\/eas\/l_span.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/deaflink.com\/video\/eas\/l_span.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This test is similar to the way local emergency alert system tests are<br \/>\nconducted; HOWEVER this will be the first nationwide test. It is expected<br \/>\nto be broadcast simultaneously on most U.S. radio stations and television<br \/>\nstations to include (cable and satellite).
