Listen up! Here are questions for you all.<\/p>\n

1) Has your request for an accommodation (i.e., interpreter) to ensure
\neffective communication been denied by your family doctor or local hospital?
\n2) For a municipal court, have interpreters or other accommodation routinely
\nbeen denied? What about jail?
\n3) Do you have any family members, friends or co-workers who recently
\nexperienced hearing loss? If so, do they need resources on assistive
\ntechnology?
\n4) Do you ever need assistance on educating your employer (boss) about your
\ndisability or communication needs? (For an example, there was no
\ninterpreter or other accommodation for a staff meeting or training)<\/p>\n

If you answered \u201cYes\u201d to at least one of the above questions, come to our
\ntraining to find out and to have fun learning. Don\u2019t forget to invite your
\nfamily members, friends, or co-workers who needed the resources. The
\ntraining would empower you to learn how to self-advocate as a deaf\/hard of
\nhearing individual and\/or to become aware with assistive technology. The
\ntraining is scheduled and located at:<\/p>\n

The Speakers-<\/p>\n

Brian Determan, an ASL-native deaf individual, serves as the Deafness
\nResource Specialist 7A, through Communication Axess Ability Group, for a
\nprogram funded by Texas DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative
\nServices) \u2013 Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. He works with
\nvarious agencies and service providers regarding their access obligations
\nunder the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act. His
\ntraining will empower deaf or hard of hearing individuals with knowledge of
\ntheir civil rights and how to self-advocate.<\/p>\n

Olivia Bills, a hard of hearing individual, serves as the Hearing Loss
\nResource Specialist 7A, through CSD of Texas, for a program funded by Texas
\nDARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) \u2013 Office for Deaf
\nand Hard of Hearing Services. She provides services, equipment demo\u2019s,
\npresentations, information, resources, referrals, and awareness on hearing
\nloss issues.<\/p>\n

Real time captioning (C.A.R.T.) will be provided. Other accommodations for
\nparticipants such as sign to voice interpreter services must be requested by
