Clerc, who<br \/>\nwas deaf, is widely responsible for developing educational programs<br \/>\nspecifically for deaf students in the United States. Teaching for 50 years,<br \/>\nClerc positively impacted thousands of deaf students, with many becoming<br \/>\ncommunity leaders, spearheading the creation of schools for the deaf<br \/>\nthroughout the country.
