TSID Scholarship and Awards 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

TSID Members,<\/p>\n

The Scholarship and Awards Committee is looking for committee members to
\nserve in selecting the scholarship recipient(s) for the 2012 TSID conference
\nin Austin. The required amount of time to serve on this committee will be
\nless than two hours on one day in March of 2012. The responsibility of the
\nScholarship and Awards committee member is to determine which applicant(s)
\nwill receive the Jonnie Duncan Student Trust Fund scholarship. If you or
\nanyone that you know is interested please contact me at
\nchair@scholarships.tsid.org or james.whitfieldjr@gmail.com .<\/p>\n

Current committee members include Carol Washington, Rita Lee-Wedgeworth and
\nMarie Dunnam.<\/p>\n

Remember, TSID Scholarship and Awards Committee has several different funds
\nwhich can support your professional development needs just visit the
\nscholarship link at TSID; http:\/\/tsid.org\/scholarships\/<\/a><\/p>\n

TSID Scholarships include:<\/p>\n

* The Don England Trust Fund: This is a perpetual fund which provides
\nfinancial assistance to all TSID members in good standing for training
\nopportunities. This fund was named after a lifetime member who had the
\nvision for this fund.<\/p>\n

* The Jonnie Duncan Student Trust Fund: This is a perpetual fund, which
\nprovides financial assistance to only students in good standing and in the
\ninterpreting profession for leadership opportunities and training. This was
\nnamed for a lifetime member who dedicated her life to interpreting students.<\/p>\n

**Note**: Once you have followed the procedures and submitted an application
\nfor one of the above scholarships, please send an email to
\nchair@scholarships.tsid.org or james.whitfieldjr@gmail.com this will help
\nwith tracking of applications.<\/p>\n

**Note**Both scholarships mentioned above are available to ITP students, all
\nqualification criteria applies. These trusts are overseen by a committee of
\nTrustees: Chairperson, Marie Dunnam and committee members include Melissa
\nHays, Jessica Harp, Brandon Morgan and Debbie Glass-Stufflebean.<\/p>\n

TSID Awards include:<\/p>\n

* The Bob Alcorn Award: This is an award that is given to a person who has
\nmade significant contributions to the field of interpreting. This award was
\nestablished because Mr. Alcorn was a tremendous voice for the Deaf
\ncommunity, for interpreters and for the interpreting profession. This is not
\nan annual award and is given judiciously in order to maintain the spirit of
\nthe special recognition bestowed by TSID.<\/p>\n

* Lifetime Member Award: This person is recognized at the annual conference
\nfor outstanding service to the Deaf community and TSID. The elected
\nindividual shall have rights and privileges of Certified Members but shall
\nnot be required to pay dues.<\/p>\n

* Honorary Members: These members are chosen by a resolution at the annual
\nconference approved by the general membership. The Honorary Member does not
\npay dues, hold office, nor vote; this is provided to those who have
\nperformed outstanding services for TSID and the Deaf community.<\/p>\n
