Proposed ‘Visit’ To Your Deaf Chat or another Deaf-Related Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is TJ Waters \u2013 I\u2019m a writer putting together a national ebook
\nsigning tour for my novel. SECRET SIGNS is a mystery\/thriller centered
\naround a young sign language interpreter who is made the unwitting trigger
\nfor a political assassination. The story opens in a Deaf Coffee chapter
\nmeeting at a Starbucks in Washington DC, with another pivotal scene taking
\nplace in a meeting later in the story.<\/p>\n

It won the 2011 International Book Award for Multicultural Fiction. The
\npaperback was published by Gallaudet University in late 2010, but is now out
\nof print. I\u2019m releasing the ebook this month through the usual digital
\nretailers (Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook, Kobo, Apple\u2019s iBookstore, Smashwords and
\nSony) for less than the cost of a cappuccino: $2.99.<\/p>\n

To promote the book I\u2019m taking a virtual tour around the country, using live
\nstreaming video from my Facebook page. It will be accessible by hearing
\naudiences via Ustream and simulcast for Deaf Community readers via VRS. I
\nplan to \u2018appear\u2019 in all fifty states in February through a combination of
\nDeaf Chat Coffee meetings, radio broadcasts, and local book clubs \u2013 all via
\nstreaming video.<\/p>\n

But this a book signing tour, so I\u2019ll be autographing copies.
\nThat\u2019s right \u2013 signed copies of an ebook. Through Autography I will
\npersonalize ebooks for any eReader device. They can also be viewed on
\nsmartphones or on a PC by downloading free eReader software from Amazon or
\nB&N.<\/p>\n

The reader\u2019s autographed page can be pushed up to Facebook or Twitter at the
\npush of a button. It\u2019s interactive, fun, and a unique way for authors and
\nreaders to meet.<\/p>\n

What I\u2019m proposing is a quick, thirty-minute appearance during your February
\nmeeting. I\u2019ll show the book\u2019s video trailer, talk about the storyline,
\ndescribe my connections to the Deaf Community, and outline the two sequels
\nthat frame out the trilogy. I\u2019m even crafting up tour t-shirts, which I\u2019ll
\nbe giving away (by mail) along the way. Sound like fun? Good! It should
\nbe! Books are entertainment and author events are supposed to be a good
\ntime.<\/p>\n

Please let me know if I can take 30 minutes of your scheduled February
\nmeeting for my book tour. I\u2019m hoping for some good media attention on this
\neffort, which I think will also bring positive PR to the Deaf Community as
\nwell. If it\u2019s not your cup of tea (err, coffee) please don\u2019t hesitate to
