The City of Fort Worth took another step forward in its ongoing efforts to
\nopen clear channels of communications with the installation of two
\nclosed-caption display bars in the pre-council and City Council chambers at
\nCity Hall.<\/p>\n

The displays will help communicate proceedings to deaf and hard-of-hearing
\nmembers of the audience during council meetings at City Hall \u2014 pre-council,
\nCity Council, Housing and Economic Development Committee, Audit and Finance
\nCommittee, and the Crime Control and Prevention District Board.<\/p>\n

The two display bars \u2014 at a total cost of $9,490 \u2014 will be fed by the same
\nclosed-captioning service that provides the displays for the cable TV and
\nonline broadcasts of the live meetings. The displays are a little more than
\n3 feet wide, 9 inches high, and rated for easy viewing from up to 50 feet
\naway.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to look just like what you see on TV when you use the
\nclosed-captioning option,\u201d Mayor Betsy Price said. \u201cWe think this will be a
\ngreat addition. More importantly, it will help us be even more inclusive in
\nour efforts to be open and accessible representatives of all of our
\nresidents.\u201d<\/p>\n
