Listen up! Here are questions for you all.<\/p>\n

1) Has your request for an accommodation (i.e., interpreter) to ensure
\neffective communication been denied by your family doctor or local hospital?<\/p>\n

2) For a municipal court, have interpreters or other accommodation routinely
\nbeen denied? What about jail?<\/p>\n

3) Do you have any family members, friends or co-workers who recently
\nexperienced hearing loss? If so, do they need resources on assistive
\ntechnology?<\/p>\n

4) Do you ever need assistance on educating your employer (boss) about your
\ndisability or communication needs? (For an example, there was no
\ninterpreter or other accommodation for a staff meeting or training)<\/p>\n

If you answered \u201cYes\u201d to at least one of the above questions, come to our
\ntraining to find out and to have fun learning. Don\u2019t forget to invite your
\nfamily members, friends, or co-workers who needed the resources. The
\ntraining would empower you to learn how to effectively self-advocate as a
\ndeaf\/hard of hearing individual. The training is scheduled and located at:<\/p>\n

Brian Determan, an ASL-native deaf individual, serves as the
\nDeafness Resource Specialist 7A, through Communication Axess Ability Group,
\nfor a program funded by Texas DARS (Department of Assistive and
\nRehabilitative Services) \u2013 Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. He
\nworks with various agencies and service providers regarding their access
\nobligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation
\nAct. His training will empower deaf or hard of hearing individuals with
\nknowledge of their civil rights and how to self-advocate.<\/p>\n

Accommodations for participants such as real time captioning (C.A.R.T.)
\nor sign to voice interpreter services must be requested by Wednesday,
