File Your Claim By January 29, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nad.org\/news\/2012\/1\/denied-access-wells-fargo-file-your-claim-jan-29\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.nad.org\/news\/2012\/1\/denied-access-wells-fargo-file-your-claim-jan-29<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) urges customers who were<br \/>\nrefused access to Wells Fargo Bank or Wachovia Bank services before<br \/>\nJune 1, 2011 to file a claim with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).<br \/>\nRefused access includes denial of relay call to Wells Fargo or failure<br \/>\nto provide effective communication such as sign language interpreter<br \/>\nfor meetings while visiting a Wells Fargo branch.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ entered into a settlement agreement with Wells Fargo which will<br \/>\npay up to $16 million to compensate individuals who experienced<br \/>\ndiscrimination in violation of Title III of the Americans with<br \/>\nDisabilities Act (ADA) when trying to call Wells Fargo, access Wells<br \/>\nFargo&#8217;s services, or visit one of Wells Fargo&#8217;s retail stores.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the settlement, Wells Fargo refused to accept relay calls from<br \/>\ndeaf and hard of hearing individuals. The NAD led the way in filing<br \/>\nover 15 complaints with the DOJ for deaf and hard of hearing<br \/>\nindividuals against this illegal practice.<\/p>\n<p>The NAD can help you file your Wells Fargo complaint if you contact us<br \/>\nby 12 pm (noon) Eastern Standard Time (EST) on January 25, 2011.
