Single-Sided Deafness Study at UNT<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW STUDY AT THE UNT SPEECH AND HEARING CENTER<\/p>\n

Speech recognition and subjective benefit with a CROS\/BiCROS hearing
\naid<\/p>\n

Erin C. Schafer, Ph.D. and Lana Ward, Au.D. are conducting a new study
\nto examine speech recognition and subjective benefit with a specialized
\nCROS or Bi-CROS hearing aid. As a participant of the study, you will be
\nfit with a wireless instrument for people with one-sided hearing. Even
\nif you have a hearing loss in your better hearing ear, there may be a
\nsolution for you!<\/p>\n

Who may participate?<\/p>\n

We are looking for participants who qualify for one of the following
\ngroups:<\/p>\n

Group 1 \u2013 CROS:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Adults or adolescents (> 14 years)
\n\u2022 Severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss in one ear with normal
\nhearing in the opposite ear<\/p>\n

Group 2 \u2013 Bi-CROS:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Adults or adolescents (> 14 years)
\n\u2022 Severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss in one ear with a
\nlesser degree of hearing loss in the opposite ear<\/p>\n

Please call or e-mail if you have any questions about the study or if
\nyou would like to participate. To see if you qualify, you may be
\nrequired to complete a complimentary hearing evaluation. People who
\nqualify for the study will be receive some monetary compensation and
\nwill get to use the hearing instruments during a trial period.<\/p>\n
