Kambri Crews, Texas native and CODA author of the book Burn Down the Ground: A Memoir (Random House), here. I’ll be in Austin for SXSW to perform on a storytelling show and for a very brief book signing at the SXSW Book Store.<\/em><\/p>\n

The show is for badge holders only and, I fear, is not ASL interpreted. The book signing, while brief, is open to the public. I hope to be through Texas again soon for a different type of event. Meanwhile, perhaps you and your subscribers might be interested in these.<\/em><\/p>\n

Comedic Storyteller Will Perform on \u201cRisk!\u201d and Sell & Sign Copies of
\nHer Memoir<\/p>\n

Austin, TX \u2014 Texas native Kambri Crews, author of Burn Down the Ground:
\nA Memoir (Random House), will appear at SXSW on Tuesday, March 13th at
\nthe Austin Convention Center. At 4PM Crews will perform on \u201cRisk!\u201d, a
\nstorytelling show hosted by Kevin Allison. Afterward, she will sign and
\nsell copies of her memoir from 5:30 \u2013 5:45 PM at the SXSW Bookstore
\noutside of Ballroom G.<\/p>\n

Burn Down the Ground is Crews\u2019 powerful, affecting, and unflinching
\nmemoir about her unconventional childhood living with deaf parents in a
\ntin shed in rural Texas (Crews is not deaf), and her attempts to
\nreconcile that harrowing childhood to her present life\u2014one in which her
\nfather is serving a twenty-year sentence in a maximum-security prison
\nfor attempted murder.<\/p>\n

Crews now runs her own PR and production company in New York City. A
\nrenowned storyteller and public speaker, she has performed in New York
\nat The Moth\u2019s Mainstage, The 92Y, UCB Theatre, and Gotham Comedy Club,
\nand given speeches at SXSW (South by Southwest) and DeafHope, a
\nnonprofit dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence against deaf
\nwomen and children.<\/p>\n
