It\u2019s spring in Corpus Christi, and all community members are gearing up
\nfor the annual North of the Border Games for the Deaf \u2013 a multi-region
\ncollaborative of deaf people with sports interests and skills. This
\nyear\u2019s Games will be held on April 21 at Cabaniss FIeld in an all-day
\ncelebration of softball, football, volleyball and other activities.
\nEntertainment, food and additional activities will also be available
\nduring the day, which runs from 9 AM \u2013 6 PM.<\/p>\n

To raise funds and awareness of the Games, the Steering Committee is
\nsponsoring a free Car Wash at Firestone \u2013 5417 McArdle Road at the
\ncorner of Staples on March 24 from 10 AM \u2013 6 PM. We have on hand
\nexperienced washers, who have enrolled sponsors for their work at a
\nrate per car. The more cars washed, the higher the collection from
\nsponsors, so we anticipate multiple hundreds of car being washed for
\nfree!<\/p>\n

To participate as a \u2018washer\u2019, contact Mari or Dani at the numbers above
\nor at info@deaf-hh.org Washers should recruit sponsors to help
\ngenerate funds, but we also welcome those who just want to help with
\nthe dirty work! Sean Hill, Event Coordinator says: \u201cHelp us to maintain
\nCorpus Christi\u2019s reputation as a place where deaf people of all ages
\ncan be comfortable and active. Join us to encourage sports and
\ncommunity involvement in our youth and teens!\u201d<\/p>\n

Donations are gratefully accepted, and are as important as the
\nindividual sponsor funds we raise. Donors of more than $20 will
\nreceived a letter for tax purposes within 30 days of the car wash
\nevent.<\/p>\n

The public are welcomed, and any business or company that would like to
\nsponsor through corporate participation may promote their business and
\n\u2018deaf friendly\u2019 services through contribution, display of
\nbanner\/presence of booth at the car wash and\/or the actual Games. An
\nofficial corporate sponsorship form is available by contacting Ms.
\nRivera or Ms. Ocker, above.<\/p>\n

Everyone should be present at this day of fun and water! How often can
\nanyone find a good car wash for free with drinks, snacks and materials
\nfor services and events in the deaf community will be available for
\nthose who are present. Sign language students, interpreting students
\nand friends and families of deaf people and the public are welcome to
\nattend.<\/p>\n
