Deaf student a victim of sexual bullying at South San, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

SAN ANTONIO — Two police agencies are investigating two South San
\nAntonio High School students on allegations of bullying and sexual
\nassault on a 15-year-old deaf girl.<\/p>\n

One of the students, 18-year-old Javier Maya, was arrested and charged
\nwith public lewdness on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest warrant, Maya in October 2011 had persuaded
\nanother deaf student into groping the victim to the point of pain. The
\nsuspects then allegedly threatened the girl not to tell anyone what
\nhappened.<\/p>\n

Several weeks after the attack, the teenage victim reported the assault
\nto her interpreter.<\/p>\n

The suspects allegedly harassed, humiliated and pursued the victim over
\na period of time because she isn’t sexually active.<\/p>\n

According to the arrest document, San Antonio police are reportedly
\ninvestigating the teens for sexual assault of other students.<\/p>\n

Maya is out of jail on a $1,600 bond. The 16-year-old suspect is still
\nin custody. A hearing is scheduled for March 20.<\/p>\n

South San ISD police have also notified CPS.<\/p>\n
