Miss Deaf Texas, Sericia Jackerson will be competing in the Miss Deaf\u00a0America pageant during July 2-July 7, 2012. We are seeking financial\u00a0assistance to send Sericia & her team to Louisville, KY for the Miss\u00a0Deaf America finals. It will be the last year to do this competition\u00a0after 40 years. The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Miss Deaf\u00a0America Ambassador Program (MDAAP) showcases young deaf women\u00a0ambassadors from our great nation. NAD Miss Deaf America is more than\u00a0just a title — she reflects a tradition of empowerment, advocacy, and\u00a0dedication.<\/p>\n

Young women are transformed into tomorrow’s leaders when they are\u00a0crowned as winners of their state competitions. These women bring their\u00a0talents to the national stage during the Biennial NAD Conference where\u00a0they display their vision and passion for advocacy on behalf of deaf\u00a0and hard of hearing Americans. The work of NAD Miss Deaf America, and\u00a0state contestant winners have inspired thousands of starry-eyed young\u00a0deaf girls.<\/p>\n

Upon being crowned, NAD Miss Deaf America travels throughout the\u00a0country during her two-year reign, reaching out to diverse members of\u00a0the deaf and hard of hearing community to support her ideals, committed\u00a0to helping others. As Sericia\u2019s Director, I hope that you will reach\u00a0out and help Sericia make this trip possible.
