CSD Joins Door64 to Host Technology Networking Event in Austin, Texas<\/strong><\/p>\n

Goal to Recruit Pool of High Quality Technology Applicants<\/p>\n

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (May 10, 2012) \u2014 CSD, one of the nation\u2019s leading
\nnonprofit providers of telecommunications and human service programs
\nfor deaf and hard of hearing consumers, will begin aggressively
\nrecruiting technology professionals to join the organization\u2019s new
\ntechnology design studio based in Austin, Texas. Sponsored by Door64
\n(http:\/\/door64.com<\/a>), a local technology member organization also in
\nAustin, Texas, the event will take place, Thursday, May 17, from 5:30
\np.m.\u20138:30 p.m., at the Six Lounge, 117 West Fourth Street, in Austin,
\nTexas.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, May 2, CSD publicly announced its plans to open a new
\nTechnology+Design Studio (TDS) in Austin, Texas. Ultimately, the goal
\nof this new studio is to design and develop the organization\u2019s next
\ngeneration web environment, mobile applications, and
\nnetwork\/communication infrastructure. The terminology
\n\u201ctechnology+design\u201d was chosen to communicate the integration of
\ninformation technology and creative design skills essential to building
\nmodern web applications. Historically, the organization\u2019s technology
\ninfrastructure had been located at the CSD headquarters campus in Sioux
\nFalls, S.D., but the new TDS in Austin will allow the organization\u2019s
\ndesigners and technologists to collaborate their efforts and create
\nsynergy to become one community in an open space work environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe formation of TDS Austin creates an unprecedented opportunity for
\nCSD to amplify our existing enterprise services team by hiring
\nindividuals with expertise in emergent technologies for web and mobile
\napplications,\u201d said Tony Fortenberry, CSD\u2019s Chief Technology Officer.
\n\u201cThis new software development group will serve as the technical engine
\nfor our enterprise computing environment as well as our sales and
\nmarketing team, empowering all CSD business units as an overall
\nmodernization effort for the CSD organization. We are excited about our
\nnew product strategy, excited about the new TDS, and excited to be in
\nAustin!\u201d<\/p>\n

TDS Austin will leverage open standards technology such as Linux, PHP,
\nHTML5, Ruby, Java, and Drupal. Open source software powers the majority
\nof websites on the Internet. Building future products in this manner
\nensures that CSD can participate in popular and emerging technologies,
\nand will have the option to contribute to open source projects.<\/p>\n

The TDS Austin office is being designed as a innovative studio
\nenvironment, utilizing open space and maximizing creativity and
\ncollaboration. The Technology Group team will share the office with
\nsales and marketing teams, thus accelerating product strategy and the
\nsharing of ideas. In addition, TDS Austin will work closely with other
\nestablished Technology Group teams, including Enterprise Services and
\nBusiness Solutions in Sioux Falls, as well as technical resources based
\nin California.<\/p>\n

With efforts to build out the new studio, CSD is recruiting technology
\nspecialists with a focus on flexible skills rather than static roles.
\nThe goal of the Door64 Job Fair is to recruit highly talented
\nindividuals who are motivated about open technology and positive social
\nvalues. Applicants with specific areas of expertise such as: technical
\nleadership, web and mobile application development, UX\/UI design (User
\nExperience\/User Interface), network architecture, systems
\nadministration (Linux, Windows, OS X), and project management are
\nsought. Though CSD always strives to attract a vast pool of highly
\ntalented and trained individuals of all backgrounds as potential
\nrecruits, special emphasis may be given to deaf, hard of hearing or
\napplicants with disabilities, as well as veterans and minority
\napplicants.<\/p>\n
